PCSpruce – Privacy Policy
DRAFT, last updated 17 October 2026. Items marked [CHECK] must be reviewed before the program is sold.
1. The short version
PCSpruce works on your computer. By default it does not send any information about you or your computer to us.
2. What PCSpruce looks at on your computer
To do its job PCSpruce reads, on your computer only: the list of files and folders (to find junk and show where space goes), installed programs, startup programs, security and protection status, drivers, USB devices that are plugged in, and basic hardware details. It does not read the contents of your documents or photos.
3. What PCSpruce saves on your computer
Settings, the Undo Center backups, the result of the last weekly check, the list of USB devices you accepted, and the technician reports you create (in Documents\PCSpruce reports). All of this stays on your computer. You can delete it at any time.
4. What leaves your computer
- Nothing is sent to us automatically.
- When you write to us from the Support page and press Send, we receive: your message, the installation code, and (if you ticked it) the PCSpruce and Windows versions. After you have written to us once, PCSpruce checks now and then whether we have answered, and the answer appears in the Support page. We use this only to help you. [CHECK: how long messages are kept.]
- When you open Quick Assist, the session runs through Microsoft, under Microsoft's policy. We do not receive anything from PCSpruce when you open it.
- When you press a button that opens a web page (for example a driver maker's page), your browser opens that page.
- To check for program updates PCSpruce uses winget, which talks to Microsoft servers. That is Microsoft's service, under Microsoft's policy.
- A technician report is created on your computer. It is shared only if you send it yourself, and it contains no files, passwords or personal documents.
5. Licensing (when you buy PCSpruce)
When you buy a license we keep what is needed to give and restore it: your name, e-mail, the license key and a code made from your computer (a one-way code from which your hardware cannot be read back). We use this only to activate, restore and support your license. [CHECK: final wording once licensing is built.]
6. Website downloads
Our website may count downloads using its server logs, which can include an IP address. [CHECK: how long it is kept, and whether a cookie banner is needed.]
7. Your rights
Under the Protection of Privacy Law you may ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Contact: [CHECK: e-mail address].
8. Changes
If we change this policy, the new version will be shown in the program's Settings.
