If Windows says "Windows protected your PC"

  1. This notice appears for new programs that are not signed with a paid certificate yet. PCSpruce is not signed yet: the certificate costs a few hundred dollars a year, and we prefer to start small and honest.
  2. Only continue if you downloaded the file from pcspruce.app. If it came from anywhere else, do not run it.
  3. Click More info. The publisher shows as unknown.
  4. Click Run anyway.
  5. Windows then asks for permission (a blue and yellow shield). Click Yes: PCSpruce needs it to measure protected folders and to fix things.
  6. Next time the notice will not appear for this file.
